About HOCKSON Studio

Catherine Stevenson Hockenhull is a Calgary based artist and the creative force behind HOCKSON Studio, created in 2016 as a freelance graphic design company. Catherine holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alberta, as well as a diploma in Design and Digital Media from MacEwan University. Working primarily as a graphic designer for the past 20 years, she has shifted her focus back to her original passion of fine art painting. Combining her design skills with expressive acrylic paint has brought forth different ideas and perspective for HOCKSON Studio sprouting a new branch of the company focusing on original paintings, prints and art-based products.

Inspired by the powerful and dynamic Alberta nature, Catherine's artwork seeks to capture the province's physical energy through vibrant colour and texture. Always reflecting on the visual depth nature presents, her intention is not to merely replicate what she sees, but rather to present the opportunity to feel the power of Alberta's land and sky. 

Through her creative process, she aims to capture the vitality of the natural elements with bright colour and expressive texture, inviting viewers to reconnect with its endless diversity and harmonious balance.
